What Is the Difference Between Hardwood and Softwood?
The biggest difference is density. Softwood is generally less dense than hardwood. It catches relatively quickly and produces heat fast, but it will usually burn through more quickly too.
Hardwood is denser. It can take a little longer to get established but normally provides a slower, longer-lasting burn. Combine the two and you get a useful balance.
Kiln Dried on Our Own Site
Whichever type of wood you burn, moisture matters. Wet or poorly dried logs can be difficult to light. They can produce more smoke and much of the heat from your fire is wasted removing water from the timber rather than warming your room. Our mixed logs are kiln dried on our own site in East Yorkshire to reduce the moisture content to below 20%.

Locally Produced in East Yorkshire
Humber Logs is part of Yorkshire Tree Surgery, so your firewood has a clear local source. We do not buy in logs or cordwood simply to process and resell.
Instead, suitable timber created through our own tree surgery work is processed into firewood. Our woodchip is also used as a bio product to help fuel the biomass boiler that provides heat for our kiln. This allows us to make better use of the materials our work already produces while reducing unnecessary transport.
Your logs are processed, kiln dried, screened and bagged on our own East Yorkshire site before being delivered to you.
Mixed Log Delivery Across Hull & East Yorkshire
We make getting your firewood home straightforward. Your logs are delivered on our flatbed truck and lifted off using a small crane. Where access allows, this lets us position your delivery conveniently at your property.
Free local delivery is available across the Holderness villages and the east side of Hull.
We also regularly deliver kiln dried logs to Hull, Beverley, Cottingham, Willerby, Kirk Ella, Hornsea, Hedon, Withernsea and surrounding East Yorkshire villages.
